Dual, panel filling LCD monitor in 3U

Designed for rack mount applications in broadcast monitoring where high image quality, but low cost, are prime requirements.

EZ2-8.4 offers front panel switch selection between two video inputs, and operates automatically on both PAL and NTSC sources. Optionally, a high impedance loop through option is available for use with CVBS input signals.

Image size of the 8.4"LCD is 40% larger than that offered by 7" LCDs, making EZ2-8.4 the obvious choice for those applications requiring longer viewing distances and where a 7" image might be just too modest. The LCDs which offer an agreeably wide viewing angle are mounted in a tilting front panel for optimum performance, generate images of both excellent brightness and contrast which are ideal for viewing for extended periods from optimal distance.

Pictures are always displayed in their correct aspect ratio, which is set by front panel switch. LCDs are protected from damage by protective screens that are treated with an anti-glare finish. For more critical applications, a military grade anti-reflective coating may also be specified, which will reduce specular reflections to about 0.5%.

Individual Tally Lights are provided for each LCD, with provision for multicolour operation (red, green & yellow illumination) as a specified option. Tally lamps are called either by a "normally open" contact set, or an "open collector" logic drive, with a maximum current sink requirement of 2mA.

Internal SDI cards, fitted as an option, extend EZ2-8.4 operational capability to cover both CVBS and SDI modes.

A whisper quiet fan is fitted to the monitor to ensure that, even when the SDI cards are fitted or the monitor is operated under adverse contitions, temperature rise of the stoutly constructed steel case never becomes an issue.

EZ2-8.4 is fitted with mains and low voltage power input connectors for operation from dual power sources. Mains power is supplied via a 3 pin IEC connector to an internal Universal Power Supply Unit which operates between 100v and 240V 50~60Hz without adjustment, whilst the "External DC" input jack will permit operation from +12V battery power. Thus the EZ2-8.4 monitor is suitable for service any where in the world, with only a change of power lead.

* Operation of the back light at low temperature is depreciated, as metallic mercury condenses on the cathode, considerably reducing operational life. For optimal operation in a low temperature environment, the LCD assembly should always be pre-warmed to between 0° and +10°C prior to use.
