For applications where the Pico, PPM6 and Mini-Mon2 metering may be too small, Murraypro has developed an elegant, full specification, PPM Unit that performs a range of vital audio monitoring functions. Providing continuous physical A1&A2 and A3&A4 Peak Programme Metering, overload indication, dual stereo phase verification and audio presence confirmation simultaneously, without cluttering the TV display monitor in any way, and with an AES input option.
The Murraypro PPM-Q22R has been designed to satisfy a number of vital day to day audio monitoring requirements, and will find use in Edit Suites and Machine rooms as a rack mount or desk PPM Unit.
Fitted with four Sifam Type 22A PPM movements, the Unit enables levels on all four audio channels to be monitored simultaneously. The front panel of the Murraypro PPM-Q22R has a RED LED peak level indicator, and a STEREO PHASE indicator, mounted adjacent to the respective channel PPM.
PEAK LEVEL INDICATOR
Four independent red LEDs indicate peak input signal levels in excess of +8.15dBU for each channel. These LEDs conform with the full PPM specification, and are not subject to the ballistic considerations of any meter movements.
PHASE VERIFICATION
Correct A1:A2, A3:A4, phasing is indicated by green illumination of the respective indicator. Incorrect phasing of any channel pair is immediately obvious as the respective PPM indicator changes colour to red. The phase indication is reliable, and is vital in a busy editing environment, where the highly visual "Traffic Light" logic polices this vital information continously, preventing horribly expensive mistakes which may only become apparent much later! The phase indicator(s) extinguish when both signals of a stereo pair are below -24dBU, preventing nuisance triggering on low level.
ALWAYS VIGILANT
These vital LEDs monitor all channels continuously, ensuring that problems are flagged immediately, and nothing relevant is missed.
INTERFACE
Looping audio inputs are provided on locking XLR-3 male & female connectors ensuring that interfacing with the Quad PPM is particularly easy.
POWER
Configured to run from 230v supplies, PPM-Q22R requires approximately 4VA. Mains power is supplied via an IEC connector.
PHYSICAL
The 2U high rack width, PPM-Q22R conforms with the CE marking requirements and is 482W x 88H x 200mm deep, and weighs approximately 3 KGm.
