Unfortunately, commercial circumstances have now forced us to withdraw technical support for "Badge Engineered/Re-Branded" versions of our original "Which-Wire?".

Units sourced directly from Murraypro, or our approved distribution network remain, of course, fully supported.

Do the problems mentioned above sound all too familiar?

How often have you found yourself in this situation on an OB, back of a bay, or in a cable duct? With the choice ranging from Analog to SDI and 525 or 625, doubt is inevitable as to which signal, if any, is actually present on any cable within a loom.

The pocket sized solution to your dilema is "Which Wire?" an amazingly compact and thoroughly researched high resolution LCD monitor which resolves the problem. Which Wire? has been ruggedly constructed, within a rustproof alloy case, which absorbs the every day knocks and bumps. All Murraypro supplied Which Wire? units are supplied with a protective wrap around case that is fabricated from lined "Cordura"™ a strong, professional grade, nylon material, which protects the Unit whilst in transit or storage. For "Field" use Murraypro offer a fully padded pouch, details below.

User safety is always paramount, and the battery powered LCD monitor may be used with total confidence in environments as varied as an un-grounded bay, or in pouring rain at a remote location whist rigging an OB installation, as the case is sealed to IP65, and is completely waterproof (and dustproof!) in normal use.

Which Wire? has only a single BNC input socket, which automatically detects the format of the applied input video signal and will display SDI or CVBS signals correctly without intervention. A simple side mounted switch sets operation for either 525 or 625 standard, and conserves the power that would otherwise be consumed by an automatic SDI TV Line Standard detector.

Which Wire? provides front panel indication of the detected input signal format as either CVBS or SDI. Indication is also provided of the SDI signal's nominal cable length on one of two LEDs for less than 100M or greater than 100M of video cable.

Which Wire? does not have a discrete power on/off switch, detecting instead the presence of a video signal, either SDI or CVBS, which automatically powers up the Monitor. Universally available AA cells, which can be changed in a moment using no tools, power the Which Wire? High energy alkaline cells are thoroughly recommended, and are fitted when shipped. Primary cells, which offer by far the highest energy/volume efficiency, will provide many hours of continuous operation and totally eliminate the off-line downtime required to recharge secondary cells. In excess of 6 hours continous operation is to be expected in the Composite video mode, somewhat less in the SDI mode, where power requirements are heavier.

For use in exposed applications where Health and Safety considerations require equipment to be secured, Which Wire? can be supplied with a stainless steel security ring, to which a safety lanyard may be clipped.

When displaying an SDI signal, Which Wire? will indicate the presence of excessive jitter by amplitude modulation of the brilliance of the "CVBS" LED.

Which Wire? provides a useful demodulated output, in Composite Video format, of the SDI signal on a second BNC. This is a monitoring quality, 1 volt 75 ohm 8 bit output of the Which Wire? detector that may be used in it's own right for auxillary monitoring. Possible applications would include feeding a larger monitor and examination using a WaveForm Monitor.

Option

1) Murraypro offer an upgrade from the complimentary wrap around case to a fully padded "ever-ready" case with shoulder strap and a belt loop. The Which Wire? does NOT need to be removed from this case for operation, as both the LCD and LEDs are visible, with the connectors fully accessable when the cover is open.

The ever ready case even provides storage for a complete set of fresh AA cells which can be changed in a moment or two without the use of any tools, restoring operational capabilities.
